LVMH – France Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault of LVMH the largest luxury goods company in the world with some 70 fashion and cosmetics brands, is the first richest person on the earth. His net worth is $236.7 billion resulting from his business across an empire of more than 70 brands including Louis Vuitton and Sephora.

2. Elon Musk - $172.7 billion

Musk is CEO of electric car company Tesla, rocket firm SpaceX and social media company Twitter. Currently, his net worth is $172.7 billion. He bought Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 and owns an estimated 74% of the social media company, which is now worth less than half what he paid for it. Two third of his total income come from the car company.

3. Jeff Bezos - $127.4 billion

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $127.4 billion and ranks as the third richest person on the earth. He divorced his wife MacKenzie in 2019 for that he had transferred a quarter of his stake in Amazon to her. Bezos founded the behemoth Amazon in 1994 out of his garage in Seattle. Bezos overtook Bill Gates to become the richest person in the world in July 2017.

78 years old Larry Ellison chairman and Chief Technology Officer of Oracle is the fourth richest person with the wealth of $118.5 billion. He co-founded software firm Oracle in 1977 and ran it as CEO until 2014. Over the years Oracle has made a series of large acquisitions, buying Sun Micro-systems in 2010.

Warren Buffet is one of the most successful investors of all times. He runs Berkshire Hathaway that owns over 60 companies including the famous ones Geico insurance, Duracell, Dairy Queen Restaurant. His net worth is $115.7 billion. He bought his first stock at the age of 11 and first filed taxes at age 13.

6. Bill Gates - $113.5 billion

Bill Gates, the co-founder of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has a net worth of $113.5 billion. Forbes first listed Gates as a billionaire in 1987; he was the richest person in the world from 1995 through 2017. Having founded the software giant Microsoft along with Paul Allen, Bill Gates eventually sold away much of his stakes in the company retaining just 1% of the shares and investing the rest in stocks and other assets. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the world’s largest private charitable foundation.

7. Carlos Slim Helu – $96.7 billion

Carlos Slim Helu and his family controls America Movil, the biggest mobile telecom firm in Latin America. His net worth is $96.7 billion. He also owns stakes in Mexican construction, consumer goods, mining and real estate companies. He sold his stake invested in New York Times in 2021.

The owner of Los Angeles Clippers, Steve Ballmer has a net worth of $95.6 billion putting him in the Eighth position among the world’s top richest persons. Steve Ballmer joined Microsoft in 1980 and became its CEO in 2000 succeeding Bill Gates till 2014.

Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, granddaughter of the founder of cosmetics giant L’Oreal, is the richest woman in the world. Bettencourt Meyers and her family own around 33% of L’Oreal stock. She has served on L’Oreal’s board since 1997 and is chairwoman of the family holding company.

10. Michael Bloomberg - $94.5 billion

Michael Bloomberg founded financial information and news company Bloomberg LP in 1981 after being fired by investment bank Salomon Brothers. He took a break from running his business after being elected as mayor of New York City, a position he held from 2002 through 2013. Bloomberg is an outspoken advocate of gun control and has donated $14.4 billion to a variety of philanthropic causes, including climate change, education and healthcare.
